Wheelersburg School Community,
This morning, a Wheelersburg Elementary school student notified their bus driver that another student had a gun in their backpack. The driver immediately secured the backpack and alerted school administrators.
Upon investigation, the backpack was found to contain an unloaded airsoft pistol, which projects plastic pellets.
We want to reassure the community that all students are safe, and no injuries occurred. The school day is proceeding as usual.
Administrators are conducting a thorough investigation in collaboration with the Scioto County Sheriff's Office. We take student safety very seriously and are working closely with authorities to ensure appropriate actions are taken. As a precaution, we will continue to reinforce our safety protocols with both students and staff.
