May Meeting

The Wheelersburg Board of Education will meet in special session on May 20, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held at the Board of Education Office, 620 Center Street, Wheelersburg.

Board Meeting Public Participation

Public Participation at Board Meetings

All meetings of the Board and Board-appointed committees are open to the public.
 

In order for the Board to fulfill its obligation to complete the planned agenda in an effective and efficient fashion, a maximum of 30 minutes of public participation may be permitted at each meeting.

Each person addressing the Board shall give his/her name and address. If several people wish to speak, each person is allotted three minutes until the total time of 30 minutes is used. During that period, no person may speak twice until all who desire to speak have had the opportunity to do so. Persons desiring more time should follow the procedure of the Board to be placed on the regular agenda. The period of public participation may be extended by a vote of the majority of the Board, present and voting.

Agendas are available to all those who attend Board meetings. The section on the agenda for public participation shall be indicated. Noted at the bottom of each agenda shall be a short paragraph outlining the Board's policy on public participation at Board meetings.

Associate's Degree in Banking and Finance from Shawnee State University (1987)
Graduate of Wheelersburg High School (1984)
 

Background:

I am happy to say I was born and raised in Wheelersburg.  I graduated a Pirate in 1984.  After high school, I went to work at Bank One and continued my education at Shawnee State University.  From there I went to work at G & J Pepsi Cola.  It was there I met my husband, David.  I then moved to a new job in residential lighting at State Electric Supply and worked there for over 30 years.  I worked out of the Portsmouth location and the Huntington, WV lighting showroom.  During that time, I lived for a brief period in South Point, OH.  When my son was ready to start school, my priority was getting Brandon back to Wheelersburg and enrolled in our excellent school system.  I have been employed with the Porter Township Trustee's Office since 2020.

Family:

My parents, Richard and Helen Wesney, and I reside in Wheelersburg.  My son, Brandon, also a graduate of WHS, class of 2011, lives in Cleveland, Ohio with his family.
 

Personal Thoughts:

Wheelersburg excels in classroom education, sports and other extracurricular activities due to the pride and traditions our leaders/teachers have placed upon our students.  I have experienced this myself, while I was in school, and again through my son.  I am in a position now to be a good steward and give back to the school a little of what they have given to me over the years.  Once a Pirate...always a Pirate!

Family:
Resides in Wheelersburg with wife, Amanda and two children, Macee and Emmee

Elected to the Wheelersburg Board of Education in November of 2013

Personal Thoughts:
As a product of the Wheelersburg School District, I have experienced the tradition, spirit, and pride of being a Pirate and I know how much that means to our students and faculty. Putting our children first and going above and beyond for them is what enables our school district to perform at a high level each and every year. Never taking that for granted and expecting to win in the classroom and through extracurricular activities are some of the traditions we must uphold. I am proud to be a small part of the Wheelersburg team that leads our children to becoming successful adults in society.

Personal Thoughts:
I appreciate all that is done for Wheelersburg students by our community, district staff, and parents. I believe it takes everyone contributing to the mission of the school district to help students develop into well-rounded adults.

Matt Miller

Education:
A graduate of Wheelersburg High School, Class of 1990.
Attended Ohio University (1990-1994), where he played football for four years and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Hygiene.

Background:
Technical Support Manager for LATA/Parallax Portsmouth, LLC. and co-owner of Penn Station restaurants (Portsmouth & Chillicothe).

Family:
Resides in Wheelersburg with wife, Jennifer and five children: Libby, Matthew, Isabella, Xavier, and Giselle.

Board Member:
Elected to the Wheelersburg Board of Education in November of 2001.

Personal Thoughts:
As a proud graduate of Wheelersburg High School, Class of 1990, I notice a lot of things have changed, but one thing will never change; Wheelersburg's Continuous Commitment to Excellence.
